About LiftRing
LiftRing is built by Doug Carollo, a solo indie iOS developer. No venture money, no growth team, no data brokers — one person who lifts, building the strength app he wanted to use. That shapes every decision on this page.
Why LiftRing exists
Most workout apps are logbooks. They're fast and they look good, but they hand the hard part back to you: you bring the program, and you do the math between sessions. When do you add weight? How much? When do you deload? Miss those calls and the best logger in the world won't make you stronger.
LiftRing flips that. It brings the program and runs the progression. You pick from 15 built-in routines, and the app pre-fills your next set's weight, applies the right jump or deload on its own, and tells you why in one plain-language line — "+10 lb — you hit all your reps." You show up and lift; the program runs itself.
Privacy is a choice, not a feature
There's no account and no login. LiftRing never asks for your email, never tracks you, and never reads your health data. Your training lives locally on your device, with optional private iCloud sync if you want it across your Apple devices. That's a deliberate stance: a strength app doesn't need to know who you are to help you get stronger, so it doesn't ask.
Honest naming
A lot of apps borrow famous program names and quietly change what's underneath. LiftRing won't. When a routine is inspired by a method rather than the real thing, the app and these guides say so. Full Body 5×5 is StrongLifts-style, not the official StrongLifts app. The 5/3/1-inspired template uses an AMRAP top set but isn't licensed Wendler 5/3/1. You should always know exactly what you're running, down to the progression rule.
The rest of the picture
LiftRing is iPhone-only — no Android, no web, no Apple Watch app; the rest timer lives in the iPhone Live Activity and Dynamic Island. It's free for your first 3 workouts with everything unlocked, then Pro is $4.99/month, $44.99/year, or $99.99 lifetime.
